About Flax Project C.I.C.

Flax Project C.I.C. was formed as a CIC in April 2023. It grew out of the Flax Project which was founded by Vicky Putler in 2020, planting our first field of flax in 2021, making 2025 our 5th year of flax growing. Our vision is a sustainable, green, UK textiles/fibre industry - from field to fabric. With a mission to be the flax processing hub for the SWUK, processing for ourselves  and others and creating a local linen. Through the workshops and communty flax growing activities we are building a community around local textile production.

Vicky is currently developing processing machinery, building an integrated ‘grow, process, spin, weave and sell’ social enterprise involving local small farmers and creative enterprises in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

The ultimate aim is to reintroduce commercial flax and high quality linen production to South West UK, find innovative solutions to the problem of pollution and environmental damage and provide jobs for the local economy, linking rural areas with towns in Cornwall and the city of Plymouth.
