THORODY
Before Flax Project C.I.C. was Thorody printed textiles.. My partner Theo and I started Thorody in 2011, printing our own designs on to linen for the interiors industry. Our USP”s were our designs and that we only used linen. It was always a source of annoyance that we couldn’t source linen grown in the UK. The seeds of the Flax Project began there and have been germinating for over 10 years.
It wasn’t until we moved to Plymouth that the seeds were planted. I can see across the fields to Kit Hill from Blockhouse Park, near to where we live in Plymouth, and it is beneath Kit Hill that our field lies. I go up and check the weather over there while walking the dog.
Thorody is winding down now. Our lovely London printers Allan WIlliams have retired and shut up shop. Sad though we are, this has given us an opportunity to re-think our printed textiles. We are re working some of our designs in Block and becoming plastic free. In the meantime we still have some Thorody fabric but we are not re-stocking. When it’s gone it’s gone.
